Do you think obsession is bad?

It can be.

Some people become obsessed with things that waste their time. Being obsessed with the wrong things can lead to problems. These obsessions are unhealthy and can reduce the quality of your life. People with unhealthy obsessions often have anxiety and depression.

Social media addiction is a prime example of a bad obsession. People addicted to social media scroll for hours each day. They waste their time on something that doesn't benefit their life.

This time spent on social media doesn’t improve their quality of life. This obsession destroys it. These people often feel shame and regret after realizing that they wasted their time. But they keep coming back to their addiction. It’s an unfortunate cycle that will repeat itself day after day for months and even years.

Obsession with things that don’t improve your life is never worth your time.

But obsession can also be a good thing.

In this article, you’ll learn about why obsession can be a good thing. If you’re obsessed with the right things.

So, let’s dive in!

What are the right things to be obsessed with?

Before we talk about why obsession can be a good thing, we first need to talk about what things are good to be obsessed with.

The short answer here is that it depends. Your goals and values are different from everyone else’s.

The things you should be obsessed with are your goals and values. You can be obsessed with one or multiple of these goals and values.

You should be obsessed with the things you do that make you a better person. Things that provide you fulfillment in life.

For example, one of my goals is to build a great physique. So, I’ve become obsessed with weightlifting, which is helping me build muscle and improve my physique. I love weightlifting. It’s fun and rewarding to go to the gym and pump iron.

Some people consider this good obsession as their “love” for this thing they’re obsessed with. This is another way to say that obsession with the right things is good.

You’ve got to love what you do. If you don’t, then why are you doing it? Doing things you don’t enjoy doing will make your life miserable. And that’s not fun.

But there are things you may not enjoy doing, but you know that you need to do them. These things are necessary evils that you must do if you want to accomplish a goal you may have.

Obsession is a display of passion

If you’re obsessed with something, you’re passionate about it. You love doing it.

Having passions makes life more enjoyable. They give you something to look forward to when you wake up each morning.

Passions help give your life purpose and fulfillment.

Each day presents another opportunity to do what you love. You get the opportunity to improve and grow as a result of spending time doing these things.

And sharing the results of your work with others is rewarding too! The feeling you get when you share your passions with other people is precious.

Obsession pushes you to work harder

When you’re obsessed with something, you spend a lot of time doing it. Time fades away. You’re so focused on what you love doing that you don’t notice the hours flying by.

You’ll naturally push yourself to work harder to accomplish your goal or live up to your value.

But it won’t feel like you’re working harder. You’ll be too busy enjoying yourself.

Being obsessed with good things helps you get into the flow state easier and quicker.

The barrier to starting your work is low because you love doing it. You won’t procrastinate as much compared to the other things you do.

So, loving what you do is a great way to be more productive.

Successful people are obsessed with what they do

Most successful people are obsessed with what they do. It’s how they became successful in the first place.

They loved what they were doing. And they did these things day after day.

Successful people are consistent at what they do because they are obsessed.

And their obsession fuels their ambition.

It makes them persist until they reach their goals. Then, they set more goals and keep going.

This persistence helps them achieve goal after goal. Their obsession drives them to achieve a little bit more than last time.

It’s a cycle of success that constantly repeats itself.

Wrapping up

Obsession can absolutely be a good thing if you’re obsessed with things that improve your life.
